Zivkovic Fencing Grips FAQ

The following frequently asked questions are meant to help guide fencers who are new to Zivkovic grips (also known as Zivkovic handles).

Ultimately, the ‘best’ grip is the one that meets your preferences in terms of size, color, fencing style and so forth.

Consider the two sections below that outline the differences between each series, and then the differences between models in each series.

Together, these data points should help point you to a grip that suites your fencing style and preferences.

What are the Differences Across the Series?

The main differentiating attributes of each series are as follows:

  • Finger channels

  • Heel support

The combination of these attributes by series are described in the below table:

Will Names Be Standardized in the Future?

We have heard feedback as to how confusing and inconsistent the naming scheme is. For example:

  • In the the B, G and K series, the BII, GII and KII are smaller versions of their respective counterparts

  • In the Z series, however, the Z is a smaller version of the ZII - the Z series goes in reverse order

Additionally, newer manufactures of the grips have introduced cross-hatching in certain parts of the grips, such as on the heel or inside of the wing. These features were not part of the original designs and now cause inconsistency of product across all series.

Finally, there is a newer model called B1 that would by name seem to indicate it is in the B series but it has design attributes that are unique to it.

Cassandra Fencing is exploring a reset in terms of both naming convention and manufacture for consistency, reliability and ease of understanding in the future.
